In this story of an eccentric, dysfunctional family, Royal Tenenbaum, a successful attorney, his wife Etheline, an archaeologist, have three precocious children, whose early successes are followed by failure and unhappiness. Years after abandoning the family, Royal tries to become part of their lives again, and his sincere desire to reconnect with them helps them to recognize and deal with their problems.
