Abby Foster has inherited a house and estate from a great-Aunt she never knew she had. Reluctantly taking a leave of absence from her work as a teacher, she drives to Maine to check out the property. It needs plenty of renovations, and is possibly haunted, but she finds herself falling in love with the house. Abby hires the best contractor in Jewell Cove, Tom, and he is determined to restore the beauty and prestige of the Foster mansion and maybe even work his charms on its beautiful new heir. The attraction between him and Abby is undeniable, and the more time Tom spends on the house the more he wants to be in it with her. But Abby's not sure she can trust him or anyone in Jewell Cove who seems to know more about her family history than she does.
